How long (approx) will it take to design and build the website?

It depends on the size of your proposed website and the features you require, however, as a rough guide, a brochure style site takes approximately 3 – 4 weeks and an ecommerce website takes 6 – 8 weeks.

Do we need to meet face to face?

It is entirely up to you. HIA Web Design has design & build clients throughout the whole of the UK and we’re experts at remote web design services. We’ll often do initial consultations over the phone, on a Skype video call or via email, whichever is preferable to the client.

The basis to creating a fabulous website is to get a detailed brief from you and that is why we created our creative brief to help you narrow down your requirements, favoured styles & the message you want to get across to potential customers.

Will HIA Web Design use a template or will the site design be bespoke?

The bespoke site design process would start with a blank canvas as a bespoke design rather than modifying an existing template. If you’re having an ecommerce online shop designed, aspects of the HIA Web Design online shop system is templated to ensure best practise online shopping experiences and so that new e-commerce features can easily be launched to all of our clients without them having to pay for improvements. Our favoured ecommerce shopping cart system is Opencart.

Once the design is created it is implemented onto the appropriate CMS (content management system) so that you can make updates in future should you wish.

With the New Business Startup Package – aspects of the design are templated rather than starting with a blank canvas.

What’s the Bespoke Package process?

  1. It starts with a free consultation via phone/Skype video/email.
  2. We would then ask you to submit a detailed website brief using our creative brief form.
  3. Once we were happy that the Bespoke Package was the right choice for your business we would provide a fixed price quote based on the number of pages & features that you have requested. If you require any additional features these would be detailed in the quote.
  4. After accepting the quote we would invoice for a 50% deposit and request logo, content and images from you.
  5. HIA Web Design would start with a blank canvas and design a website home page concept!
  6. Using your feedback on the design we would amend it to create a final design through two rounds of revision.
  7. HIA Web Design would build the chosen design on the appropriate content management system and insert all content on to the website pages.
  8. We then setup your domain name ready to go live, at which point we would invoice for the remaining 50%.
  9. You would then set up the monthly payment for your chosen hosting & support package which start from just £10 per month.

What level of SEO work does each package include and will you advise on copy for the site for SEO purposes?

HIA Web Design has a number of features built in to help with your SEO ranking but our website design packages do not include search engine optimisation (SEO). We don’t guarantee a page one result in Google. The reason for this is that some businesses are easier to rank higher for than others due the competition for their keywords & phrases. Other businesses might already have a good ranking before moving to HIA Web Design, so that often just rolls over to the new website (and we ensure that any update to page url’s is conveyed to google via specialist redirects). If you’re a new business getting a new website setup, a good place to start is the HIA Web Design SEO package.

What does the HIA Web Design SEO Package include and how much does it cost?

The HIA Web Design SEO Package is a £300 one off charge. Most specialist SEO companies charge more than this per month ongoing, so what does HIA Web Design do for this single one off price?

  1. Keyword research as to what the most searched for terms are and recommend a focussed list to target.
  2. Write title and description tags for each page of your website.
  3. Provide suggestions for rewording big heading blocks and on-page content to incorporate keywords. Possibly suggest keyword Rich page names and button or link text.
  4. After 2 weeks, HIA Web Design would review the result once the website was indexed and do one round of revision to improve on anything.
  5. Advise and educate the client on which third party services to setup to maximise Google ranking:
  6. Google Places
  7. Local Citation Directories
  8. Social Media
  9. Advise the client on business blogging and content marketing.

All websites are developed to work primarily across all major browsers and platforms including other devices such as mobile phones and touchpads. However, HIA Web Design cannot guarantee complete and/or long term compatibility across every major browser, platform or handheld device due to updates/upgrades by their respective vendors. HIA Web Design cannot guarantee compatibility in old or redundant browser software.

What are the hosting costs, other charges and what does that include?

Yes. We actively encourage you to own your own domain name, this way your are always ultimately in control of your own website both now and in the future. In order to send a site live we will need access to your domain name hosting in order to update the DNS & A records but this can be done once the site is ready to go live.

Do I have to have my email accounts with HIA Web Design?

No, you can have your email accounts hosted elsewhere and have your website with HIA Web Design. If we are hosting your domain name, you would need to supply us with the MX records for your email service.

Do you create wireframes first?

Usually we don’t start with wireframes. While wireframes are sometimes useful, we have streamlined the design process for our websites so that it’s more efficient to go straight to designing. The other problem with wireframes is that although designers can envision the potential of them, for non designers it can be difficult to imagine the potential of a wireframe that is a bunch of grey boxes, no colour, no photographs etc.
